balance
The approach to enlightenment requires one to be balanced. For that enlightened state is found at the very centre of one’s being and that centre is the balance point in our consciousness. Everything else is peripheral, is off-centre, unbalanced.
So, for example, in each of us there is a masculine aspect and a feminine aspect. Whilst one of these is dominating, we cannot find that very centre of our being. Both the masculine and feminine, within, need to find a balance and only then can we transcend this duality and reach deeper into our being.
Consciousness, ordinarily, is a very wobbly thing, bouncing around with thoughts going here and there; different desires tugging us in different directions. Really, the inside of the mind, normally, is something like a school playground: total mayhem. Only when this chaos of thought begins to settle, and become more balanced, can our awareness, our energy, reach deeper into our consciousness; eventually reaching to this very centre where there is, no longer, an ‘I’, an ego. At that point there is no separation. But to reach to that point, a certain balance is needed. During the seeking, during the long journey, it is as if one is walking a tightrope, or the razor’s edge. This is where the balance is required, not succumbing to extremes, not being dragged off to the periphery, one way or another. With this balanced approach, one comes upon the greater miracle, which is the essence of us all.
